The Reference Services Unit is holding its monthly play reading session on Wednesday, 13 August 2008. Participants will read The Miser by French Playwright Molière. This play is considered one of Molière’s famous plays, and is one of the most significant classical French theater.
The Miser's plot, involving a rich money-lender called Harpagon, whose feisty children long to escape from his penny-pinching household and marry their respective lovers, is a comedy of manners to which the 17th-century French upper classes presumably objected. It is said that Molière himself played Harpagon.
The session starts at 16:00 hrs. at the Arts and Multimedia Library. Participants should register their names at the General Information Desk at the Library entrance.
