The BA Participates in Alexandria Arab Book Fair in the Citadel of Qaitbey

The BA participates in the third round of the Alexandria Arab Book Fair in the Citadel of Qaitbey. HE Farouk Hosni, Minister of Culture, and Ambassador Khaled Zeyada, Lebanese Ambassador to Egypt, inaugurated the Fair on Wednesday, 13 August 2008, and praised the BA’s pavilion.
The BA presents a collection of its latest publications including: Imam Muhammad Abduh: A Century Since his Death; Renovation and Foundation in the Architecture of Islamic Societies; Bulaq Press, which was awarded the State Incentive Award in Social Sciences in 2008; The History of Writings from Ideogram to Multimedia, which won the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science Award for the best translated book in the Arab region for the year 2006; Al-Arabi.. Diwan of Arab Culture; Akhbar El Yom.. An Egyptian Press School; How to Read the Ancient Egyptian Language?; The Digitization of Knowledge From Stone to Digital Age; and Ibn Khaldun: the Mediterranean in the 14th Century: the Rise and Fall of Empires.
It is worth mentioning that the Fair is held during the period from 13 to 23 August 2008, with the participation of 57 publishing houses from all Arab countries. The Fair includes a special Lebanese pavilion, since Lebanon was selected the guest of honor in this year’s Fair and Beirut was selected the “World Book Capital 2009”.
During the Fair, two poetic evenings will be held to honor late Palestinian Poet Mahmoud Darwish. Participants will include Poets Omar Hazek, Ahmed Fadel Shablol, Mohamed Ibrahim Abou Sena, Gaber Bassiouny, Sabry Abou Alam, Fouad Tman, Mohammed Teama, and Fawzy Khedr.
