The Reference Services Unit is holding its monthly play reading session on Wednesday, 27 August 2008. Participants will read In Plain Arabic by Lenin El-Ramly.
The play tells the story of Arab students living in a boarding house in London. The play starts when the Egyptian crew of the TV show In Plain Arabic decide to change the traditional framework of the show and to portray the daily life of a group of Arab students living in London. This happens to coincide with the Feast (Eid al-Fitr), which is followed by the disappearance of one of them after a quarrel with a young British group, despite trying to hush this disappearance, the case turns to be an issue of public opinion, and reflects the differences in the characters’ attitudes.
The session starts at 16:00 hrs. at the Arts and Multimedia Library. Participants should register their names at the General Information Desk at the Library entrance.
