In her speech, Mrs. Mubarak affirmed that the Institute has succeeded in establishing solid grounds, and due to its presence in a region swarming with conflicts, it had an opportunity to operate in vital fields relevant to peace and human security. She maintained that peace in our societies reflects the needs and aspirations of our people.

She added that the Institute contemporary vision and its modern teaching methodology focuses on human rights, conflict resolution, and dissemination of the culture of peace. Thus, the Institute significantly paves the way for a new age of peace makers, who would play a vital role in confronting conflicts and establishing societies based on democracy and peace.

She mentioned that one of the Institute main goals is to establish partnerships with renowned centers experienced in peace studies throughout the world. Mrs. Mubarak called for cooperating with these centers through the exchange of programs and the establishment of partnerships that would widely benefit a new generation of intellectuals and peace makers in our region.

Amidst the unprecedented crises witnessed by our region nowadays, HE Mrs. Mubarak pointed out that the Institute agenda should address these crises on the regional and international levels. HE Mrs. Mubarak concluded that the Institute research work should also propose procedures to prevent future crises or at least limit its negative repercussions on our societies. She also recommended the addition of an important item to the Institute agenda, which is the role of youth in peace making and publishing theses papers in the Institute newsletter and bulletin, which should be issued once a year to include academic research papers and field studies.

In a review of the Institute plan of action, Ambassador Ali Maher, Director of the IPS, stated that a report was submitted to HE Mr. Mubarak on the activities and accomplishments of the Institute during the past period of time on the regional and international levels, as well as the agreements concluded with foreign authorities and Egyptian universities to coordinate and cooperate in the actions serving the culture of peace in our region, and in the world at large.
