Alexandria— The opening ceremony of the Arab and North African Regional Contest will be held at the BA, on 23 November 2008.

The Arab and North African Regional Contest (ANARC) is a part of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM-ICPC), which is one of the most important programming contests in the world.

ACM ICPC is a two-tiered competition among teams of students representing institutions of higher education. Teams first compete in regional contests held around the world from October to December each year. The winning team from each regional contest advances to the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest World Finals, typically held the following March to mid-April. Additional high-ranking teams may be invited to the World Finals as wild card teams. ANARC draws students from colleges and universities throughout North Africa and the Middle East.
