The Ceremony will be attended by Engineer Wael El-Fakharany, Director of Google Egypt and North Africa, Dr. Hassan Nadeer Khairallah, President of Alexandria University, in addition to deans, university professors and participating students.

The competition was launched on 15 April 2009 among students of three Egyptian universities: Cairo, Alexandria and Assiout. They prepared and wrote essays about subjects of their majors including arts, engineering, medicine and poetry. Similar initiative were previously launched in Saudi universities.

Knol is a new free-of-charge tool to encourage people to write their own essays or comment on others. It is an effective way to overcome the scarcity of the Arabic content online, allowing Arabic speakers to obtain knowledge from the Internet.
