The Rescue of Abu Simbel at the BA

Alexandria—The BA Antiquities Museum and the World Wide Artists Gallery of Rome co-organize a Conference entitled: “Abu Simbel: The Salvaging of the Temples, Man and Technology” from 10 to 13 January 2010, celebrating the 50th anniversary of salvaging Abu Simbel.
The event is sponsored by the UNESCO Cairo Office, the Embassy of Italy in Cairo, the Italian Archaeological Center, the Italian Institute of Culture, and the Italian-Egyptian Center for Restoration and Archaeology.
An Exhibition will also be held from 10 to 23 January 2010 featuring 60 photographic panels showing the conditions of sites before salvaging, why it was necessary, international projects, dismantling and cutting into blocks, temporary storing and reconstruction.
The Exhibition is held at the BACC West Exhibition Hall, and is open for public.
