Alexandria— HE Ambassador Margaret Scobey, the US Ambassador to Egypt, visits the BA on Sunday, 7 February 2010, to meet a group of young researchers, who have excelled in the field of science and technology, with the support and under the supervision of the BA Planetarium Science Center (PSC).

The Ambassador’s visit coincides with the PSC preparations for the Intel BA Science and Engineering Fair (Intel BASEF), in cooperation with Intel, on 10 and 11 March 2010. The Intel BASEF is a local competition that prepares outstanding young students and inventors from all over Egyptian governorates to participate, compete, and win the Intel ISEF that takes place every year in the United States of America.

The Intel BASEF winning projects- a joint project (max. 3 students) and two individual projects)- will represent Egypt in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), held this year during the period from 9 to 14 May 2010 in California, USA.

The PSC, in cooperation with highly specialized professors, presents a program aiming to develop the capacities of students and train them to conduct scientific research, in addition to promoting their communication and creative skills.

It is worth mentioning that the Intel ISEF, the world’s largest international pre-college science competition, provides a forum for more than 1,500 high school students from over 40 countries to showcase their independent research, share ideas, showcase cutting-edge science projects, and compete over millions of dollars in scholarships, tuition grants, scientific equipment, and scientific trips.
