Alexandria—Dr. El-Saeed El-Waraqy, Chairperson of Dr. Mohamed Zaki Al-Ashmawy’s Conference, announced the BA Narrative Review series winner of the First Prize of Al-Ashmawy’s Award , in a ceremony held on the fringe lines of the Conference.

The BA participated in the competition with a file entitled “Ahmed Hemida: Alexandrian Street Creativity”, which was discussed in the Narrative Review on Tuesday, 23 February 2010.

Dr. Al-Ashmawy’s Conference was held on Sunday, 28 February 2010, at the Arabic Language Department, Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University, under the theme: “Literary Criticism in the Contemporary Literary Scene”, and witnessed the participation of a number of professors of Arabic literature and eminent authors.

It is worth mentioning that Narrative Reviews are a series of workshops held every Tuesday at the BA. The reviews seek to nurture writing skills of young Alexandrian authors, build networks between writers from different generations, and launch an active critique movement that would build bridges between critics in Alexandria, Egypt and the Arab world at large.
