The Arabic Calligraphy Day

Posted on

The BA Calligraphy Center holds its sixth annual celebration of Arabic Calligraphy on Tuesday, 2 November 2010, marking the establishment of the Calligraphy School in Alexandria, that was later named Mohamed Ibrahim School for Arabic Calligraphy.

Inaugurated in November 1936, the school has always been a destination for Egyptian and Arab presidents, as well as icons of art, science, and culture. The school, that was administrated by Artist Kamel Ibrahim after the death of his brother, had a significant role in preserving the art of Arabic calligraphy and developing the talents of young calligraphy lovers.

The Ceremony features a presentation on the history of the school and a display of works of contemporary Arab calligraphers.

The event starts at 7:00 pm at the BACC Lectures Hall.
