The award-giving ceremony is held on 4 December 2010 in the State House, Accra, Ghana.
The prize is awarded by Ghana’s Excellence Awards Foundation, a private institution established in 1999, which presents the Millennium Excellence Award every five years, to honor outstanding achievement by individuals who have selflessly served the continent of Africa and contributed to its socio-economic development. Previous recipients of the award are Kofi Annan, Former UN Secretary General (2005); and Jerry Jon Rawlings, former President of Ghana (2000).
