The Role of Youth in Politics
Posted on
The BA hosts on Thursday, 7 April 2011 a public session between Egyptian and Swedish young people on the role of youth in politics. Opening speeches will be given by H.E. Gunilla Carlsson, Swedish Minister of International Development Cooperation, and H.E. Ambassador Hagar Islamboly, Head of BA External Relations Sector.
This session comes in context of the current changes in the Egyptian scene. The Swedish Institute, Alexandria (SwedAlex), in cooperation with the BA, launches a new program focusing on youth in democracy building. The first phase creates a platform for Egyptian and Swedish youth representatives of political parties, to exchange experiences and practices to enhance the role of youth in politics and determine how political awareness and participation of youth can be promoted.
SwedAlex organizes a workshop entitled “Youth in Politics” on 7 and 8 April 2011, focusing on the role of youth in capacity building of political parties, developing party identity/ideology and programs, developing principles into policies and programs for implementation and communicating political messages. Furthermore, funding, gender representation, leadership, mediation and negotiation skills are important issues to discuss.
"The Role of Youth in Politics" session is held at the BACC Delegates Hall at 3:00 pm, and is open for public.
