The Arab Oud (Lute) House
Posted on
The BA Art School has recently launched the Arab Oud House at the BA, under the supervision of artist Nasser Chamma.
Targeting children and adults from age 8 onwards, the House promotes cultural and musical awareness of lute, as well as other oriental instruments such as kanun, nay, bouzouki and drum. The Arab Oud House teaches various techniques and styles of playing these instruments. It aims at establishing a new generation of professional musicians, forming a nucleus for an oriental orchestra, as well as teaching methods of manufacturing musical instruments. It pays special attention to female players and players with special needs.
In two-years time, an oriental music festival will be held featuring students of the Arab Oud House.
