Serageldin gives Ninth Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture

Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, is invited by the Nelson Mandel Foundation on 23 July 2011to give their Ninth Annual Lecture in Johannesburg. The aim of the lecture is to stimulate dialogue around a range of critical social justice issues.

Previous speakers were Presidents Bill Clinton, Thabo Mbeki and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Nobel Laureates Desmond Tutu, Wangari Maathai, Kofi Anan and Muhammad Yunus. The 2010 lecture was presented by writer and human rights activist, Ariel Dorfman. Serageldin’s lecture is entitled “Pluralism, Cohesion and Social participation for Social Justice”.
 

Established in 1999, after Mandela’s retirement, the Nelson Mandela’s Foundation contributes to the making of a just society by promoting the values and vision of its founder.
