Nobel Laureate Economist Joseph Stiglitz Gives a Lecture at the BA

The BA hosts on Thursday, 28 July 2011, Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel Laureate in Economy and Professor of Economy, Columbia University who gives a lecture entitled “Egypt in a Changing World”.
 

Stiglitz was the lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. In 2009, he chaired the Commission of Experts on Reforms of the International Monetary and Financial System, known as the Stiglitz Commission, which was convened by the President of the United Nations General Assembly, in response to the global financial crisis.
 

Stiglitz is known for his critical view of the management of globalization, free-market economists ("free market fundamentalists" in his own terms) and some international institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
 

The Lecture is held at the BACC Great Hall at 2:30 pm, and is open for public.
