Animal Farm in a Theatrical Performance at the BA with Translation into Sign Language

Under the auspices of Rotary Club of Alexandria–El Nozha, the BA Main Library holds on Sunday, 25 September 2011, a theatrical performance by BA readers in Arabic during the closing ceremony of the Drama Workshop based on George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm.

Animal Farm is a dystopian (anti-utopian) allegorical text that satirizes the former Soviet Union. It opens with the animal revolting against the farm owner, renaming it “Animal Farm” and creating their own philosophy, “Animalism”. However, slowly, the pigs take over the farm, reducing Animalism to “all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others”. Towards the end, the common animals can no longer tell which are the pigs and who are the human beings.

The event starts at 7:00 pm at the BACC Great Hall and is translated into sign language.
