Puducherry Blue: An Exhibition of Paintings from South Asia

The BA and the Maulana Azad Center for Indian Culture hold an exhibition of paintings from South Asia entitled “Puducherry Blue” from 15 to 24 August 2012.
In March 2010, a group of 32 artists from 9 South Asian countries – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka– assembled in an artists’ camp in the peaceful and picturesque setting of Puducherry in South India under the auspices of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), the agency responsible for India’s cultural diplomacy,
The idea was to provide a platform for young and creative artists in the region to interact and mingle with each other, both socially and through the medium of art. It was an effort to rekindle the search for South Asian common cultural heritage and ancient links. The result was Puducherry Blue, an extraordinary collection of paintings and artistic creations representing both the diversity as well as the striking commonalities of the South Asian region.
The artists, skilled in the use of various materials and textures, have complemented each other in producing a rich collection of art that seeks to build upon the common heritage of South Asia, and yet remain unique and powerful.
The Exhibition is held at the BACC East Exhibitions Hall, and is open for public.
