In collaboration with the International Association for Creation and Training (I-ACT), the BA holds the first Backstreet Festival in Alexandria, starting from 24 till 29 September 2012.

The Backstreet Festival is an artistic platform for performing arts, dialogue and exchange of activities in untraditional spaces, and encouraging people to practice freedom of expression in an interactive and artistic ambiance.

It comprises street performances, regional training and dialogue opportunities for people across Europe and the Mediterranean, with special focus on Egypt and the Arab Middle East region.

The Festival hosts 19 performances, including singing, dancing, narration, street theater, circus, puppets, clowns and multimedia shows. Ten performances will be held at the BA, and the rest in many cultural and artistic institutions in Alexandria such as Teatro Alex café, the French Cultural Center, Rio Summer Cinema and Kom El-Dikka café.
