Serageldin Receives Four Honorary Doctorates from Georgia and Azerbaijan

The University of Georgia and Ilia State University in Georgia awarded Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, two honorary doctorates in recognition of his academic and scientific contributions.

During his visit to Georgia, Serageldin gave three lectures in the University of Georgia, Ilia State University and Tbilisi State University, attended by students and faculty members. Having received much media attention, Serageldin was interviewed by Georgia State Television about possible cooperation means between the BA and cultural institutions in Georgia.

Serageldin also paid a visit to Azerbaijan where he received two honorary doctorates from State Agricultural University and Odlar Yurdu University for his accomplishments in the fields of agriculture and development, and as and Ambassador of the Alliance of Civilizations respectively.

He also signed two memoranda of understanding with the University of Georgia and Odlar Yurdu University in Azerbaijan.
 

It is worth mentioning that Serageldin is a recipient of 33 honorary doctorates from different world universities.
