Lecture on the Rise and Fall of Royal Alexandria

The BA Special Projects Department, in cooperation with the Department of History and the Center for Middle East Studies at the American University in Cairo (AUC), organizes a lecture by Dr. Philip Mansel entitled “The Rise and Fall of Royal Alexandria: From Mohammed Ali to Farouk” on Thursday 21 March 2013.
 

Mansel studied at Eton College and Oxford University, and received his PhD from University College, London, in 1978. He has eleven books of history and biography, mainly relating either to France, or to his other main area of interest, the Ottoman Empire and the Middle East. These include Louis XVIII (1981), Sultans in Splendour (1988), Constantinople: City of the World’s Desire 1453-1924 (1995), Paris Between Empires 1814-1852 (2001), and Levant: Splendour and Catastrophe on the Mediterranean (2010).
 

The Lecture is held at 12:00 pm, at the BACC Lecture Hall, and is open for public.
