Music and Plastic Arts Celebrate Their Second Year at the BA

Under the auspices and continuous support of the H.E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak in celebration of the 2nd anniversary of the inauguration of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Arts Center will be organizing and hosting a festival of artistic, musical and cultural presentations throughout the month of October.

The festival launched its activities with the opening of three plastic arts exhibitions from around the world. "Alexandrie: Mémoire des Temps", a unique presentation of the theme of the city of Alexandria, is an effort to encourage an innovative approach to artistic and cultural interaction and to promote dialogue between peoples. Organized jointly by the Arts and Alex-Med Centers, the exhibition is an outcome of four months of cultural interaction between Egyptian artist Jihan Soliman, Professor of Photography at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University and Belgian artist, Jocelyne Mottoulle, who was hosted by the library to live in Alexandria for three months in preparation for the exhibition.

Under the title, "Treasures of Arab – Byzantine Navigation," the Arts Center at the BA, cooperated with the Greek Association of Little Asia and the Greek Delphic Council, to present pictures, maps and models on Arab - Byzantine navigation from the 7th Century to the 13th Century.

"Anna Pavlova, the Ballet Legend,’ is the third exhibition hosted by the Arts Center throughout the month of October. The presentation of twenty photos, articles and posters of the famous Russian Ballerina, shows her exceptional performances throughout different stages in her life.

On the 12th of October, the Arts Center presents "Three Operas in an Hour," an opera adapted from three short stories by Egyptian novelist Youssef Edris, written by Sayed Hegab and composed and conducted by Sherif Mohie Eldin.
