On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the Archaeological Society of Alexandria, the BA hosts an international conference entitled “Alexandria: Current Archaeological Research and Future Perspectives” from 7 to 9 April 2013.

The Conference is held in collaboration with the BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center, the BA Calligraphy Center and the Centre d’Études Alexandrines.

It will provide an opportunity to bring national and international members of the archaeological missions working at Alexandria and environs, as well as other researchers interested in Alexandrian studies, together to discuss the major challenges in studying, documenting, preserving and managing Alexandria's tangible heritage and share their experiences, to develop a vision for future prospects.

The three-day event has been designed for a number of stimulating topics, namely: current archaeological field work, new tendencies in Alexandrian studies, challenges for future management of Alexandria's tangible heritage, and new approaches to ancient sources and historical events.
