The BA hosts the Federation of Egyptian Chamber of Commerce Conference

Towards Strong African Economic Relations is the conference of the Federation of Egyptian Chamber of Commerce, which will be held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), 6-9 December 2004. The conference is organized under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Nazif, Prime Minister of Egypt, with more than 52 representatives from African governments, unions and chambers of commerce in attendance.
Throughout the three-day conference, participants will work together to help strengthen trade relations and connections amongst African countries, as well as establish solid economic and developmental frameworks that complement the reality of the African situation. The conference will also aim at empowering the role of a joint body of African commerce chambers working together towards a better standard of living for African citizens.
Several Egyptian ministers will head the different panels of the conference: Dr. Youssef Boutros Ghali, Egyptian Minister of Finance, will head the panel on “The Role of Investment in Developing African Economic Relations”. The second panel on “Sustaining the Role of Commercial, Agricultural and Industrial Chambers in Africa” will be headed by Dr. Hassan Khedr, Egyptian Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, whereas the panel on Information Technology (IT) and its role in supporting economic activities in Africa, will be headed by Dr. Tarek Kamel, Minister of Communications and Information Technology. Other panels will cover issues of “African Legislations and Agreements”, as well as African cooperation in fields of infrastructure, health, education, tourism, banking and land reclamation.
