The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in cooperation with Hayah Karima Foundation, launched the second edition of “STARS: Steps Towards Achieving Real Success” program in Alexandria, which is hosted by the Faculty of Education at Alexandria University. The program takes place from 7 to 10 October 2024, with the participation of 100 Alexandria University students of various disciplines.

The program aims to build the capacities of a conscious youth who possess the ability to generate new and innovative ideas to achieve positive societal change that is in line with the demands of the times. It comprises a series of lectures and workshops that are geared towards educating young people and developing their skills.

The opening ceremony witnessed a speech by Prof. Mohamed Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Education at Alexandria University, and an introductory lecture on STARS program delivered by Dr. Marwa Al-Wakeel, Head of the BA Academic Research Sector, who highlighted the BA activities that are designed to build the capacities of young people. The first day of the program featured lectures and workshops on Egyptian heritage, identity and personality, facing wars of consciousness, and countering rumors.

The second day included a lecture and an interactive workshop on "Sustainable Development and Future Jobs", which discussed the concept of sustainable development and its goals, shed light on Egypt's Vision of 2030, and explained future jobs, such as green jobs.

The STARS program is the product of a joint cooperation between the two institutions as part of the "Agile" initiative to develop the capacities and skills of young people, under the umbrella of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work. It was launched last August to mark the International Youth Day of 2024.

The next editions of the program are scheduled to be held in the governorates of Beheira, Gharbia, and Sohag respectively.
