Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly launched this morning the "World Cities Day" ceremony at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which was hosted by Alexandria as part of Egypt's preparations for the twelfth session of the World Urban Forum in Cairo that will be held under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The ceremony was attended by a number of ministers and governors, in addition to UN officials and foreign ambassadors.

In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA, stressed that the Library is concerned with the dissemination of the Egyptian culture that is based on love and peace, which confirms to the whole world that the path of development and construction is more important and enduring than the path of wars, conflict, and demolition. He pointed out that the pursuit of modernity and civilization is the road towards development and sustainability.

He referred to Egypt's efforts in the field of urban development through the establishment of urban development projects that are aimed at eliminating slums and dangerous areas in order to improve people’s quality of life. He also stressed the importance of raising awareness of climate issues and urban sustainability.

He mentioned that the BA pays great attention to these topics and places them on top of its priorities, as it always works through constructive partnership with all ministries and state institutions, as well as international organizations that seek human happiness and peace.
