A New Reading Corner at the BA Plaza

Posted on

Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, inaugurated a new reading location at the Library Plaza. The idea came as an innovative artistic step implemented by the Library Sector, which launched a new set of benches designed to combine modern style and cultural symbolism. Each bench is designed in the form of an open book featuring an influential scientific, literary, artistic, or sports figure from the Arab world.

The collection features portraits of prominent figures such as Magdi Yacoub, Ahmed Zewail, Taha Hussein, Moustafa Al-Abbadi, Samira Moussa, Sayed Darwish, Umm Kulthum, and Mohamed Salah.

The benches are currently on display at the BA Plaza overlooking the sea. The Library is preparing to move them into the Main Reading Areas in colder weather for public convenience.
