Malaz Project 2024 at the BA

The BA Women Studies and Social Transformation Program and the Sustainable Development Studies, Youth Capacity Building, and African Relations Support Program, organized the Malaz Project that is funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and aims to develop refugees' professional and technical skills to help them meet the needs of the local labor market, thus contributing to improving their living conditions and providing them with opportunities to establish small businesses and learn how to manage them.
The first phase of the project offered training workshops in rooftop plantation, the leather industry, and the simple food products industry. They witnessed the participation of nearly 40 to 50 Sudanese, Syrian, and Yemeni refugees, together with a group of Egyptian participants who joined each workshop.
The second phase of the project was completed a few days ago, in which participants received specialized training on the principles of entrepreneurship and its most prominent applications.
The project concludes with a fair showcasing the products that were executed during the training period and a closing ceremony that takes place on Sunday, 22 December 2024 at the BA Conference Center. The top three projects will be announced for financial prizes during the closing ceremony, and in-kind prizes will be distributed to the other participants to facilitate the launch of their projects.
