Egyptian Women’s Week seminars at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina

Alexandria, 7 March 2005— On the occasion of the International Women’s Day (8 March) and Egyptian Women’s Day (16 March), the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) is organizing a series of seminars on the role played by women in different artistic fields.
Tuesday, 8 March will witness a seminar on the accomplishments of Egyptian women, featuring Dr. Emad Abou Ghazi, Professor of Library Sciences, Cairo University. On 9 March, a seminar on women’s contribution to theater will be held featuring Dr. Essam Abdel Aziz. The artist, Dr. Sereya Sedky is giving a seminar on the contribution of women to plastic arts on 10 March. A seminar on women’s contribution to literature; featuring Dr. Hoda Al Sada, Professor of English Literature, will be held on 11 March. On 12 March, there will be a seminar on women’s contribution to television, featuring Mr. Ossama Anwar Okasha, the scriptwriter. Dr. Neveen Al Kilani will give a seminar on women’s contribution to the art of ballet on 13 March. And finally on 14 March, a seminar on women’s contribution to cinema featuring the critic, Mr. Samir Farid.
The seminars will begin at 5:00 pm in the BA Auditorium.
