Astronomical events during April

Posted on

Alexandria, 13 April 2005—The month of April will witness many astronomical events, seen with the naked eye, announced Omar Fekry, astronomer at the Planetarium Science Center (PSC) at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

Without using observatories, Saturn, Jupiter, as well as the spring constellations will be very clear in the sky and easily seen. On 15 April, there will be an occultation phenomenon between the moon and Saturn, and on 22 April, there will be an occultation phenomenon between the moon and Jupiter. This phenomenon is used by astronomers to calculate the coordinates of the planets.

The Planetarium’s scientific shows will present these phenomena to the audience, and they will therefore be able to easily identify them in reality.
