Shakespeare Film Festival

Alexandria, 20 April 2005—On the occasion of the birthday of William Shakespeare (23 April 1564), the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Arts Center is organizing the Shakespeare Film Festival, 23-25 April 2005. Shakespeare is the renowned English playwright and poet whose body of works is considered the greatest in history of English literature.

The Festival includes the daily screening of films based on Shakespeare’s works for three consecutive days. The first day, 23 April, will witness the screening of King Lear, directed by Michael Elliott, UK, 1983. The following day, the film Hamlet will be shown, directed by Franco Zeffirelli, USA, 1990. Monday, 25 April will feature the film Titus, directed by Julie Taymor, USA, 1999.

The shows will begin at 8:00 pm in the Auditorium of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; admission is free.
