Launching of TWAS Arab Regional Office

Alexandria, 29 May 2005—The launching of
the Academy of Science for the Developing World Regional Office for the Arab Countries (TWAS-ARO) will take place, 2-3 June 2005, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA).
This remarkable event brings together over thirty TWAS members from twelve different countries in the region to discuss the objectives, strategy and work plan of the regional office.
Headquartered at the BA, the TWAS-ARO aims to promote the activities of TWAS and its affiliated organizations, in addition to promoting scientific capacity and excellence for sustainable development in the region. This is in line with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s commitment to supporting the progress of science and technology in the region, for they are sure keys to the success of any nation.
