Alexandria, 4 August 2005—The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is grateful to all its friends around the world who wrote or telephoned after the terrorist bombing of Sharm El Sheikh to show support in this time of tragedy. This is a time when friends and family come together to support each other, reflect on what has happened, and help each other cope with the tragic consequences of these heinous acts of terrorism.
While we extend our profound condolences to the families and friends of those who have been killed and wounded, to the people of Sharm El Sheikh and Egypt, we also wish to express our deepest sympathy to all the victims of terrorism around the world. This experience and exposure to terrorism transcends nationality, culture, and religion.
Our friends’ outpouring love and compassion is symbolic of the world’s solidarity against hate and destruction. We thank you for your thoughts, prayers, compassion, and for your commitment to supporting your friends and colleagues in the BA community and the people of Egypt.
