Workshop: The role of youth in modernization and development in Egypt

Alexandria, 11 September 2005—The Arab Reform Forum at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing a workshop, 15-16 September 2005, entitled “The Role of Youth in Modernization and Development in Egypt” that comes within the framework of the Role of Youth in Modernization and Reform Conference that was inaugurated in February 2005.
Participants will work together to promote the role of youth in reform. To this end, they will discuss the reports and recommendations of the conference held in February, as well as define the priorities and actions to be taken within the following two years.
The conference on the Role of Youth in Modernization and Reform witnessed the contribution of Egyptian youth who presented their views on modernization and development and came up with solutions and plans for the next year. It discussed a number of issues in seven panels: Cultural Speech, Building Social Capital, Modernizing Civil Society Organizations (CSO), Modernization and Democracy, Modernization and Social Change, Modernization and Building Knowledge Societies and Modernization and Economics.
