Lecture on the benefits of Agricultural Biotechnology in Egypt

Alexandria, 18 October 2005—The Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) is organizing a lecture by Dr. Lawrence Kent, entitled "International Experience with GM Crops – How Can Egypt Secure Similar Benefits from Agricultural Biotechnology?", 20 October 2005.
Dr. Kent is an Agriculture Policy Specialist at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, St. Louis, Missouri, USA, where he is responsible for biotechnology transfer to developing countries. Dr. Kent was a senior-level Agricultural Policy Analyst based in Egypt working on the Agriculture Policy Reform Program, cooperating with the National Biosafety Committee, to develop new biosafety guidelines. He also cooperated with the Agriculture Genetic Engineering Research Institute (AGERI) to study and raise awareness about the potential benefits of transgenic crops for Egypt.
The lecture takes place in the BA Auditorium at 11:30 am.
