Reception for the Italian Grant

Alexandria, 9 November 2005—The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) is hosting a reception 10 November to mark the launch of a grant presented from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with UNESCO. The Grant, which is presented to the BA within the framework of a multi-bilateral agreement, aims to support the reproduction of Arabic manuscripts, and the development of the restoration laboratory, museographic display techniques, and academic activities at the BA.
The reception will be attended by H.E. Mr Antonio Badini, Italy’s Ambassador to Egypt, Dr Mohamed Abdul-Razzak, Director of UNESCO Office in Cairo, as well as Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Dr. Youssef Ziedan, Director of the Manuscript Center and Manuscript Museum, who will present speeches highlighting the strong cultural relations between Egypt and Italy throughout the ages.
