Mediterranean Voices Final Conference at the BA

Alexandria, 10 November 2005—The Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center, an affiliate to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, is organizing the Mediterranean Voices Final Conference Turning Back to the Mediterranean: Oral History and Cultural Practice in Mediterranean Cities , on 11-13 November 2005. The conference marks the closing stages of the Euromed Heritage II Project, funded by the EU.

The three-day conference will include academic panels, audio-visual presentations, exhibitions, film screenings, and workshop discussions. Scheduled discussion topics include: living in cities; intangible heritage in education; tourism and festivals; memories and dissonance; disciplinary and methodological dialogues; and institutional and public agendas.

An exhibition will accompany the conference at the BA, running throughout the three days of the conference. It will highlight the exhibitions mounted by the local project teams over the past twelve months. Emphasis in these exhibitions was placed on creating interactive, educational stalls to facilitate a more active audience role.
