Alexandria, 18 December 2005— Today, a delegation from Institute Ramon Llull, based in Catalonia, Spain, visited the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA). During the visit, the delegation presented a donation to the BA that comprised a number of books on the Catalan life, culture, arts, and literature.
The donation comes within the context of the activities that the Institut Ramon Llull is carrying out to spread the Catalan language and culture all over the world. It has arranged to give a broad and diverse view of the Catalan culture through translating many books related to the Catalan culture; participating and supporting in fairs and exhibitions that spread the Catalan culture; as well as teaching the Catalan language in schools.
Ambassador Taher Khalifa, Head of External Affairs at the BA, received the delegation, taking them on a tour at the BA museums, galleries, and research centers. He also introduced them to the services that the Library provides to its visitors.
