Alexandria, 28 December— Dr. Emad Eldin Abu Ghazi, Head of Committees and Sections, the Supreme Council for Culture, donated the library of Dr. Dyaa Mahmoud Abu Ghazi, Specialist in Egyptian Antiquities and Former Deputy Director of the Egyptian Antiquities Authority, to the Library of Alexandria.
Dr. Abu Ghazi’s collection comprises rare publications, some of which date back to the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; the Egyptian Museum periodicals; publications of the French Institute for Eastern Antiquities; some of the reports on archeological excavations; foreign books on Egyptian Antiquities; and cultural, intellectual, and philosophical publications.
Dr. Sohair Wastawy, Head of Library Services Sector, at the Library of Alexandria, stated that Dr. Dyaa Abu Ghazi was a distinguished Egyptian intellectual during the twentieth century, an International Egyptologist, and the Director of the Egyptian Museum for several years. Dr. Wastawy added that the collection is one of the best donations presented to the Library, as it enriches the Egyptology Section at the Library and makes up for the shortage of rare publications in this field.
