Avian Flu in a Lecture at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA)

Alexandria, 19 January 2006—Within the framework of lectures’ series on health awareness organized by the Planetarium Science Center at the BA, and in collaboration with the New Salama Hospital, Dr. Mohamed Helmy Ziedan, Associate Professor, Chest Diseases, Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, and Member of the French Association on Chest Diseases, gave a lecture on Avian Flu.
In his lecture, Dr. M. Ziedan reviewed different kinds of Influenza Viruses and the Avian Flu Gene. Dr. Ziedan also explained ways of Avian Flu transmission, means of prevention, and how to deal with infected birds. Finally, Dr. Ziedan referred to the avian flu death rates and if there were any cases reported in Egypt.
