the BA will hold the Third Arab Reform Forum Conference on 1-3 March 2006, entitled Challenges and Concerns Facing the Civil Society.
Dr. Ismail Serageldin, the Director of the Library of Alexandria, stated that the main objectives of the Arab Reform Conference is to observe the best reform practices around the world. To that end, participants will cover several themes including microfinance, women empowerment and youth employment. The conference will also discuss transparency, human rights and the environment, through the participation of reform experts and civil society organizations.
Notably that the second reform conference held last March reviewed successful models of Arab civil societies. The conference’s main theme was to highlight the ability of the civil society, beneficiaries, and the public at large to participate in solving reform problems without exclusively depending on Arab governments.
