The Alexandria International Symposium for Sculpture in Natural Materials has been held annually by the BA since 2006, using different materials each year that vary between marble, wood, and mosaic. This year, seven young Egyptian artists and three experienced foreign artists will take part in the event to create small works of art (30 x 30 x 60) using granite, an especially challenging feat. The Symposium will be accompanied by a workshop where artists, volunteering students, and the visual arts team at the Art Center will take part in to produce artwork. The workshop will end with an exhibition where the products created during the symposium will be displayed in the BA’s West Exhibition Hall. At the end of the exhibition, the artwork will be added to the fast growing permanent art collection at the BA and will be exhibited all around the premises.
