The BA Center for Writings and Scripts Studies is organizing a lecture on the muhaqqaq script. The seminar will be led by Dr. Nassar Mansour, Professor of Arabic Calligraphy at the World Islamic Sciences and Education University in Jordan.
The lecture will cover the history and beauty of the muhaqqaq script through the ages, its significance in Arabic calligraphy, why it was abandoned for over 500 years, and how it was used for copying out the Holy Quran for six centuries. The lecture will also include a presentation on the muhaqqaq script in Islamic architecture and art.
