The BA Center for Calligraphy Studies is organizing this seminar, which will begin with an opening session followed by a screening of the documentary film The Journey of Writing in Egypt. A co-production effort between the Center and the BA TV Studio Department, the film traces the origin and evolution of writing in Egypt through the ages.
Distinguished researchers in the field of ancient writing systems will deliver five consecutive lectures led by Dr. Mohamed Abd el-Ghany, Professor of Greek and Roman History at the Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University.
The following day, Photographer Dr. Mark Van Stone, a specialist in Mayan scripts, will lead a workshop titled “Write with the Maya glyph” in order to highlight the beauty of the ancient Mayan civilization.
