BA Mourns the Loss of Former UN Secretary-General Dr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali

With a heavy heart, the BA management and staff mourn the loss of one of the most prominent figures in Egypt; Dr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, former UN Secretary-General, who passed away on Tuesday, 16 February 2016. May he rest in peace, and may his memory live forever to remind us all of his great contributions, to Egypt, to Africa and to the world.

Dr. Boutros-Ghali, is not only the first UN Secretary-General from Africa, but also the author of  an important report titled An Agenda for Peace: Preventive Diplomacy, Peacemaking and Peace-Keeping in 1992, and several other publications. Dr. Ghali is also known for his numerous contributions to human rights issues, international law, and economic and social development. 

Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the BA, offers his condolences to Dr. Boutros-Ghali’s family on behalf of himself, the institution and all the Library staff.
