The BA Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) and the World Academy of Sciences for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries' Arab Regional Partner (TWAS-AREP) are organizing a regional workshop on science diplomacy for the Arab region, from 24 to 26 October 2023.

The workshop will discuss the concept of "science diplomacy" in the Arab region and the role it plays in addressing local and regional issues such as climate change, the food crisis, scientific research and other issues, by presenting the scientific aspects related to the concept of science diplomacy. It will also discuss the importance of close cooperation between scientists, decision-makers and diplomats, with the aim of strengthening the relationship between young scientists, government officials, policymakers and diplomats.

The workshop aims to bring together young scientists and researchers under the age of forty from various fields related to science, technology, applied and life sciences, along with decision-makers in different sectors. In order to maximize the benefit for all participants, the workshop will be held both at the BA and online.

Applications for participation in the workshop are accepted from young Egyptian and Arab scientists and researchers under the age of forty, as well as diplomats, representatives from NGOs, and other sectors working at the science diplomacy nexus. Women scientists are particularly encouraged to apply, together with all Arab nationalities residing in Egypt and abroad.

Registration is free of charge and selected participants will be contacted (the registration deadline is Monday, 21 August 2023). For registration and further information, please visit the following website: https://twas-arep-sd.bibalex.org/
