The Bibliotheca Alexandrina participates in the World Year of Physics 2005 celebrations

Alexandria, 11 April 2005—The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) is joining the world in celebrating the World Year of Physics 2005, a United Nations endorsed, international celebration of physics. Worldwide events, throughout the year, will highlight the vitality of physics and its importance in the coming millennium, and will commemorate the pioneering contributions of Albert Einstein in 1905 and the introduction of three main theories of physics: Light quanta, Brownian motion and the special theory of relativity.
Within the celebrations, BA is organizing a symposium, 4-6 June, comprised of a public forum, exhibition, scientific meeting, workshop, and scientific contest, with Nobel Laureates and international leaders in attendance. In addition, BA is holding several symposia, lectures and seminars throughout 2005.
These events aim to bring the excitement of physics to the public and to inspire a new generation of scientists. They also aim to celebrate Einstein, his great ideas, his influence, and how he changed our view of ourselves, our world and the universe at large.
