Alexandria, 12 May 2005—The Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing an educational training program entitled: Modern Trends in Developing Education and Environmental Sustainability.

The program aims at promoting self-education in youth and the broadening of their horizons, touching upon modern trends of learning such as distance-learning and E-learning. One of its goals is also to raise the awareness of the youth regarding their environment, its problems, and the means of solving such problems.

It comprises a series of lectures where national and international scientists are invited to speak about topics of current interest, as well as field trips to sites within and around Alexandria for students to evaluate the state of the environment and to develop solutions for challenges faced by it.

The Center invites youth aged 14-19 to participate in the program. Good knowledge of English, computers, and Internet use is requested. Lectures will be held every Saturday in the East Hall, BA Conference Center, at 5:00 pm.
