Financial cost benefit analysis for family planning programs
This study is based on a UNFPA project to follow up an earlier report that tried to demonstrate the financial benefits of family planning programs to help governments in their decision to allocate their scarce resources accordingly. It aims to update the family planning program financial analyses adopted to: (1) estimate the impacts of family planning programs on government expenditures for social services such as health, education, housing, and food subsidies; (2) compare reductions in government social services spending as a result of family planning programs to the costs of family planning services; and (3) show the financial viability of family planning programs and their effectiveness in improving the quality of social services”. In order to align the results to the national strategy for family planning the timeframe and projection period is 2014-2050 and the financial results were compared with the first report in 2005
