Most studies of mortality in persons with Down syndrome have focused on survival in the first years of life, and almost all persons included in these studies have been white. We examined changes in median age at death by race and sex, the most common diseases associated with death, and the occurrence of major categories of malignant neoplasms among people with Down syndrome compared to the general population.
