We need to determine the evidence
of percutaneous injury to the surgeon during surgical procedures. Then if he is
stuck with a hepatitis B positive needle what is the rate of infection in the
health care worker. This is called infectivity. It is also an appropriate
term for the proportion of infections in patients exposed to the surgeons blood.
The definition of INFECTIVITY is the proportion of exposures, in defined
circumstances that results in infection. The other important questions are
listed on the slide.
